Will your products get me high?
No, there are trace amounts (under the .3% hemp threshold) of THC in our products, the ONLY psychoactive cannabinoid in the hemp plant.
Will I pass a drug test?
As with all hemp products, although the THC in our products is barely detectable, there is a slight possibility you could fail a drug test. Please speak with your doctor or employer if this is a concern.
What are cannabinoids and CBD?
Hemp contains roughly 80 different types of cannabinoids, however, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannbidiol) are the most common cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. As with regulation, hemp plants contain less than .3% THC and can contain upwards of 20% CBD. THC is the cannabinoid that is known for its psychoactive characteristics, while CBD is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and be a neuroprotectant.
Can I overdose?
CBD has been studied and found to be non-toxic. There have been no fatal overdose due to CBD oil.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services in their US Patent #6,630,507, “No signs of toxicity or serious side effects have been observed following chronic administration of cannabidiol to healthy volunteers (Cunha et al., Pharmacology 21:175-185, 1980), even in large acute doses of 700 mg/day (Consroe et al., Pharmacol. Biochem. Behav. 40:701-708, 1991)”
What is the difference between hemp seed oil and hemp extract/CBD Oil?
Hemp seed oil is produced by cold pressing the seed of the hemp plant. There is minimal CBD and THC, and is primarily used for cooking oils, moisturizer bases, and can be used as a biodiesel fuel, like other vegetable oils.
CBD oil or Hemp extract is cannabinoid oil that is extracted from the hemp’s stalk, leaves, and flower, NOT the seed. This oil is high in CBD but low in THC.
Why does Alpine Hemp use full spectrum hemp extract instead of THC-free isolate/crystalline?
Alpine Hemp believes in whole plant extracts that benefit the whole body. Whole plant extracts are important because of the entourage effect. The hemp plant works best as a whole so that all of the compounds can work together. When all of the elements of the hemp plant, which includes the cannabinoids, terpenes, vitamins, and the trace amount of THC work together they create a synergistic effect on health.
Why does Alpine Hemp use an alcohol extraction method?
This method retains the most nutrients from the plant. Other methods lose valuable nutrients especially terpenes. Alcohol keeps the integrity of the plant’s profile.
